The SBC’s mission statement and key objectives are quite straightforward and are listed on this website. To put it even more simply, we serve as a networking and learning forum for Singapore businesses and professionals to advance our business interests in the UAE.
Since the establishment of the SBC in 1999, our membership has grown manifold. Our members represent almost all sections of the UAE economy and include corporates as well as individuals.
Being on the crossroads of major trading routes, Singapore and Dubai share a vision of promoting global trade and serving as gateways to the free and efficient movement of not only goods and services but also ideas. Bilateral trade between Singapore and the UAE has been growing handsomely in recent years. I believe more and more Singapore-based companies will consider establishing a presence here to take advantage of the favorable trade environment and excellent infrastructure. I strongly encourage all such companies to join the Council as an important first-step. I also urge existing members to spread the word about the SBC’s activities and to reach out to the Executive Committee with ideas on how to make the council even more relevant to its members.
The success of the Council would not have been possible without the support and guidance of the concerned authorities in the UAE. In this regard, I extend my sincere appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AI Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and members of the Ruling Council of the UAE for their leadership and vision in making the UAE’s business environment conducive for all to thrive and prosper.
I wish to thank H.E Hamad Buamim, the Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, H.E. Samuel Tan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE and our Patron H.E. Cheong Ming Foong, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai, for their valuable support to the SBC. And finally, my sincere thanks to the members of the SBC’s Executive Committee, who serve voluntarily and give their time and energy to serve the community.
With Kind Regards,
